Strengthening Indo-German Economic Cooperation: Opportunities for SMEs
The recognition of the important role small and medium companies (SMEs) play in advancing trade, investment, and technological ties has led to a long history of strong engagement between India and Germany. A historic Joint Declaration was signed on September 9, 2008, by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry of India, and the Government of India, in an effort to strengthen their partnership. With this proclamation, a bilateral training program for Indian executives and managers was intended to promote economic cooperation.
The Birth of Partnering in Business with Germany Training Programme
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, formerly known as Inwent, collaborated to realize this aim by arranging the first Indo-German Managers Training Programme (MP) in 2009. Currently named as “Partnering in Business with Germany,” this effort has grown yearly and has benefited more than 630 businesspeople thus far. The initiative has continuously shown how valuable it is in fostering commercial ties between Germany and India.
Programme Highlights for 2024
In 2024, CII and GIZ are committed to continuing this legacy by organizing two specialized batches under Partnering in Business with Germany:
