CII 4R Awards 2025: Honouring Innovation and Leadership in Sustainable Waste Management
India is rapidly emerging as a global leader in waste management, propelled by innovative practices and a deepening commitment to sustainability. Through a series of impactful national initiatives focused on urban sanitation and large-scale waste management, the country has achieved notable progress. These efforts have fostered robust collaboration among government agencies, private sector enterprises, and local communities to implement effective and scalable waste solutions.
CII’s Role in Driving Industrial Sustainability
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), at the forefront of promoting industrial sustainability, is leading transformative efforts to help businesses reduce their environmental impact. Central to these efforts is a strong focus on waste management and circular economy principles, brought together under the visionary CII Waste to Worth Movement.
Introducing the CII 4R Awards 2025
As part of this broader commitment, CII proudly announces the CII 4R Awards 2025, a prestigious initiative that recognizes and celebrates innovation, excellence, and leadership in sustainable waste management. Building on the earlier 3R framework, the 4R Awards took a significant leap forward in 2024 by introducing “Repair” alongside Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, reinforcing the importance of extending product lifecycles and accelerating the transition to a circular economy.
Fostering Circular Economy and Lifecycle Thinking
It highlights the growing importance of product lifecycle extension and circular economy practices. These awards celebrate exemplary efforts by industries, startups, private firms, and academic institutions that are advancing impactful waste solutions and driving environmental, economic, and social benefits.
Aligned with Global Sustainability Goals
The initiative supports key objectives including the promotion of sustainable waste management, encouragement of innovation, recognition of leadership, and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12).
