These priorities will be at the centre of the 10th CII School Education Summit 2026, being organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 3 September 2026 in New Delhi. Themed “Future of Education: Building Educators, Transforming Learners,” it will bring together school leaders, educators, policymakers, and industry experts to advance dialogue on the priorities shaping school education.
Technology and AI: Transforming the Classroom
Emerging technologies and AI are increasingly influencing the way education is delivered and managed, with their potential extending across classrooms, teaching practices, learning experiences, and school management. As Stan Lee wrote, “With great power comes great responsibility,” and this technology-led transformation also makes the role of educators increasingly important. The ability to effectively integrate emerging technologies into education requires educators and schools to understand how these tools can support teaching and learning. The summit will explore how AI and emerging technologies are reshaping classrooms and school management, while also considering their role in creating education systems to build a future-ready generation.
Connecting Schooling with Skills and Employment
Preparing learners for the future doesn’t happen in silos in classrooms and requires stronger connections between education and the professional world. This is where vocational education and skill-based learning become significant. They can provide students with opportunities to develop practical capabilities alongside mainstream academic learning. The Summit will explore how schools can integrate vocational education and skill-based learning into mainstream curricula. This focus also aligns with the broader vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which prioritises integrating vocational education into the school education system.
Student Well-being: Creating Resilient Learning Environments
Education is not only about academic learning. Student well-being and mental health are increasingly important to creating supportive and resilient learning environments. Schools today must consider the broader environment in which students learn, including the pressures and challenges that can affect their emotional well-being. Creating an environment where students can develop resilience is therefore an important part of building future-ready schools.
The Summit will examine the growing importance of mental health and well-being in schools and explore how learning environments can better support student resilience. A special session will take this discussion further, focusing on the everyday triggers of stress, anxiety, and emotional burnout, and on building resilience in the face of these challenges.
Recognising Schools Leading the Way in Vocational Education
A distinctive feature of the Summit 2026 will be the National Level Competition on Integration and Delivery of Vocational Education in Schools in India. The competition will recognise visionary school principals for their work in integrating vocational education into their school curriculum in alignment with NEP 2020.
Beyond recognition, the competition provides an opportunity to showcase how schools are approaching the integration of vocational education and translating the vision of a more skills-oriented school education system into practice. The experiences of these schools can contribute to a wider dialogue on how vocational education can become an integral part of mainstream schooling.
Building Educators, Transforming Learners
As technology and AI change how education can be delivered, the challenges and opportunities facing school education become interconnected. Skills and vocational education are strengthening the connection between schooling and employment, while mental health and well-being are becoming increasingly important to creating resilient learning environments.
